Everyone begins as a squirming blob of humanity learning how to get along. It’s good to know how to get what we need from others who may have the food, power, goods, or access to comfort and pleasure. The rules of this game. Or learn suffering if they don’t.
Rules. It’s almost a four letter word. #$%* the rules. As we move along, we make our own set as a personal compass. Ah, that feels better. My rules. And we look for like minds as our tribe. Less risk, we hope.
Through some trial and error, I have a guide, not a rule, for getting through the treacherous shoals of everyday living. I hope it is as useful to you as it has been in guiding me.
When I hear something that could be called a fact, rule, or truth, I file it away like a little note. Just a note. If I hear something similar to the first note from another person or source, I make another mental note, maybe this time with an asterisk, if this seems useful for me.
So moving along, I don’t keep these notations as any kind of rule, or truth. Not yet.
In that process of learning how to get along, to get what I want out of life, I keep that mental file of notes, until there are several points of view, sources you may call them, that may be saying the similar thing, what I have been making note of.
Ahh Haa! Now I probably consider these notes as more useful as true, relevant and universal, for moving myself along the continuing flow of life, wherever I want to go. Now I have connective tissue with my life, a way to move about and not get more bruises than necessary.
This is my way, not a rule, but like a good compass, it can get you places. Bon Voyage!
