OK, that was a trick question. Kind of impossible to feel while standing on it. Truly there is a constant state of movement and change is all around us.
Mountains of boulders crack and erode slowly to further settle down. Starting life as volcano’s fire, they become hardened into a shape to live into another age. They age to soften and settle into the sunlight, to grow warm again, soaking up that new warmth until it must be given back into the cool night. The sun’s radiance warms whatever it touches, and the winds move from place to place, searching for the place to rest.
Sunlight is the light of life. It moves beyond the horizon so we may sleep and dream. Then it returns so we may wake and laugh at our dreams.
Rain falls without a care as it cleans the air and feeds plants, then rushes downhill to gather in the bowls that fill with its arrival, ready for the visits of man and beast.
The tree of the forest grows from its elders. It lives, breathes, flowers, and gives fruit. They stand where they will, shading those who come to stay for a rest, sharing time and breath. It passes the end of its days to fall back to earth and feed the soil so others will grow in their place.
We humans have learned how to change a tree into paper to hold our best thoughts, or we may make a chair, a home, or a tool to use wisely or carelessly if we wish.
As we stand and move about on the spinning earth, we might forget that it will continue on into its own eternal future, with or without us.
