Do you need a fix? Fix is the word to use here. If you have worries, problems, or unfulfilled desires, you may feel stressed. Possibly? I mean the kind of stress that takes you down, not lifts you up to do a task. Everyone is selling the promise of a fix. I am talking about the kind of fix that has you feel refreshed inside. No cost.
I needed a fix but just didn’t know it. Uptight was a way of life, I thought. Uptight gets things done, I thought. Focused, ready, and fast. But disabling headaches plagued me. Then the question finally popped into my head. Is this all there is?
Everyone needs to be productive and feel effective at whatever it is each of us wants to do. Multitasking is the means, right? Maybe not. To do things well and not make ourselves sick we need to focus, think, and work effectively, Being capable for the demands of life is to have a satisfying and happy life, what practically everyone wants. Really.
Being harried, worried, and tired isn’t useful. The fix is nearby. Do you know that place close to you, you know the one with trees, grass and benches. Better yet, when you can, a real forest. Trees are there for a reason, and it isn’t just to be a background for selfies. They are more than that. They are the place where we can relax and recover from the harsh parts of life, the concrete world. It’s a well known, real benefit to health. In Japan, it’s called forest bathing.
So when you feel low, tired, or angry, go find a quiet place where there is at least a small forest of trees. Don’t worry, no one is watching. Let yourself enjoy it. Relax. It feels good.
